A lively Royale craps table in full swing

Craps Table Hire London

The loudest table in the room.

Craps is the loudest, most social game on a casino floor. A 12-player table draws a crowd, builds up noise, and gives an event the unmistakable energy of a Vegas pit. If your brief is “we want the room buzzing,” this is the table that does it.

How It Plays

One player at a time rolls two dice (the “shooter”). Other players place fun-money chips on the outcome of each roll, on a specific number, a pair, the shooter making their point, the dice not coming up seven, and so on. The croupier announces the result and pays out. The next roll comes within seconds, and the table reacts to every throw, cheers when a number hits, groans on a seven-out. It’s the most communal game we hire out.

Specifications

Our standard hire is the 8ft craps table, a full-size, casino-grade piece at 250cm by 110cm and 100cm tall. Twelve players fit around the rail, and at craps the crowd behind them is usually louder than the players themselves, so allow a clear space of about 400cm by 260cm and give the cheering somewhere to stand. For bigger events we also carry a larger 12ft table, 380cm by 110cm with a recommended floor space of 530cm by 260cm: tell us your guest count and we’ll advise which suits the room. The table fits through a standard domestic doorway and plays indoors or outdoors.

Top Tips for Guests

  • Start on the “pass line”, you’re backing the shooter, and it’s the simplest bet on the layout.
  • The whole table wins together when the shooter’s hot. Expect to high-five strangers.
  • Ignore the rest of the layout for now. Pass-line gets you 80% of the fun.

Best Paired With

For corporate events, see corporate casino hire, craps is one of the three games we recommend most often for company evenings.

FAQs

Is craps hard for guests who’ve never played?

The full layout looks intimidating, and the come-out roll terminology takes a minute to grasp, but in practice guests start with the simplest play (pass line, playing with the shooter) and the croupier explains the rest as they go. Within ten minutes, even first-timers are confident enough to throw the dice.

How much space does a craps table need?

The standard 8ft table itself is 250cm × 110cm. Allow at least 400cm × 260cm of floor space so guests can stand comfortably around it. Larger events sometimes take the 12ft table instead (380cm × 110cm, 530cm × 260cm recommended floor space). Craps draws watchers as well as players, so a little extra room around the table improves the atmosphere.

Can you bring craps to outdoor events?

Yes, under cover. We need a marquee, gazebo or solid awning over the table, dice and the table felt don’t mix with rain or strong wind.
