James Bond Casino Night Hire London
Black tie, low light, baccarat on the table.
There is only one game Bond plays at the table, and only one way to do a Bond night properly. Black tie, low lighting, baccarat on one table, roulette spinning on another, and croupiers who carry themselves like they’ve dealt in Monaco. This is the brief we love. Here’s how to pull it off.
The Games
Baccarat
In the novels, Bond plays baccarat. In Casino Royale, poker. For a Bond night, baccarat is the authentic choice, elegant, simple, and exactly what your guests expect. Our full-size punto banco tables look the part: proper baize, proper proportions, the kind of table you’d expect to find at a private members’ club rather than a hire catalogue. Baccarat is also one of the easiest games for guests who’ve never played before, the croupier does most of the work, guests simply back Player or Banker, and the drama takes care of itself.
Roulette
No Bond scene is complete without a roulette wheel. The drama of the ball dropping, the sweep of chips, the spin. Our wheels are full-size, casino-weight and look exceptional on camera and in person. Place the roulette table where it can be seen from across the room, it’s your visual centrepiece, and guests gravitate towards it naturally. For a Bond night, request black-and-gold table felt. It photographs beautifully and reads exactly right.
Blackjack
A crowd-pleaser for guests who want to play at their own pace. Blackjack rounds out a Bond setup beautifully alongside baccarat and roulette, it’s fast, familiar, and keeps higher volumes of guests in play simultaneously. If you have more than 60 guests, we’d always recommend blackjack as your third table.
Getting the Look Right
The games are the foundation. The atmosphere is built on top. A few things that make the difference:
Dress code. Black tie or smart cocktail, enforce it. The atmosphere collapses the moment someone arrives in jeans. State it clearly on the invitation, brief your door team, and hold the line. Your guests will thank you for it once they’re in the room.
Table felt colour. Black and gold is the Bond choice, dramatic, period-appropriate, and exceptional on camera. Dark green baize works well for a slightly more classic casino look, evoking the original Fleming-era gaming rooms. Either reads correctly; avoid red.
Lighting. Low and warm, always. Bright overhead lighting kills the atmosphere faster than anything else. Uplighters, candles on tables, pin spots on the gaming area. If your venue has a lighting rig, dim everything to 30–40% and add warm tone. The croupiers can work in almost any light level, your guests will feel the difference immediately.
Custom fun money. We design fun money that looks like proper casino-grade notes rather than novelty play money. For a Bond night, go with a dark, considered design, gold text on black, or a deep navy card. Guests pocket them as a keepsake; they should be worth keeping.
Gold stanchions. Optional, but effective. Cordoning off the casino area with velvet ropes and gold stanchions creates a genuine VIP-within-a-VIP feel. It also manages the flow of guests naturally and stops the gaming tables from being crowded from all sides.
The Full Bond Brief
If you want a checklist to work from:
- Black tie dress code enforced from the door
- Baccarat as the centrepiece game, placed prominently, introduced by the croupier
- Roulette as the visual anchor, positioned to be seen across the room
- Blackjack for volume, keeps guests in play throughout the evening
- Dark, warm lighting, no bright overhead lights
- Custom fun money in a considered design, black, gold, or deep navy
- Cocktail service running throughout, the Vesper Martini is the obvious choice (gin, vodka, Lillet Blanc; shaken, not stirred, your bar team will know it)
- Croupiers briefed on Bond game rules, etiquette and the general tone of the evening
- Gold stanchions if the room allows, creates a defined casino zone
Choosing Your Collection
For intimate Bond evenings (20–50 guests): The Classic collection, one baccarat or roulette table, one croupier, the right amount of play for a smaller room without overwhelming it.
For mid-size events (50–120 guests): The Signature or Grand collection, two to three tables, enough variety to keep all guests in play simultaneously.
For a proper Bond gala (120 guests and above): The Straight Flush or The Royale. These are the collections built for serious events: multiple tables, full croupier team, the kind of setup that fills a ballroom and makes people stop when they walk in. If you’re doing a Bond night for a corporate client or a large charity fundraiser, this is the appropriate level.

FAQs
What game does James Bond actually play?
In Ian Fleming’s novels, Bond plays baccarat, specifically baccarat chemin de fer, a variation where players take turns holding the bank. In the 2006 Casino Royale film with Daniel Craig, the game was changed to Texas Hold’em poker for modern audiences, as poker was at the height of its cultural moment. For a Bond night with the right atmosphere, and the right literary authority behind it, baccarat is the authentic choice.
Can you theme the tables specifically for Bond?
Yes. We can arrange black and gold felt, custom fun money in a considered casino design, and table cloth branding if you want the company or event name on the tables. If you have specific branding, logo files or a design direction in mind, talk to us when you enquire, we’ll advise on what’s achievable and what looks best on the night.
Do I need a Bond theme, or will a casino night work on its own?
A well-run casino night with good equipment and professional croupiers creates its own atmosphere, the Bond theme enhances it, but the casino does the heavy lifting. If you’re not certain about going full Bond, consider a more general casino evening with smart dress code, quality tables and attentive croupiers. The feeling in the room will be similar. The theme is a layer on top; the foundation is the equipment and the people running it.
